National carriers continue operations via Saudi Arabia hubs
Following unsubstantiated reports of a potential reopening, Kuwaiti authorities have confirmed that the country’s airspace remains closed and airport operations suspended.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in an online statement that no official approvals have been issued for the resumption of flights, and that Kuwait International Airport has remained closed since 28 February 2026 due to ongoing regional tensions linked to the Israel-Iran war.
Abdullah Al-Rajhi, official spokesperson for the DGCA, added that “a circulating announcement was detected via social media, issued by one of the airlines, indicating the start of flight operations from Kuwait International Airport.”
Authorities continue to urge travellers to rely on official sources for updates.

Kuwait’s Jazeera Airways launches daily UAE flights via Saudi Arabia
As the closure enters its 44th day, national carriers Jazeera Airways and Kuwait Airways have been operating via hubs in Saudi Arabia since March to maintain connectivity.
Kuwait Airways is operating via Dammam’s King Fahd International Airport, serving destinations including Cairo, London, Istanbul, Lahore and Mumbai, with additional routes such as Chennai and Paris set to launch in April.
Similarly, Jazeera Airways has maintained operations through five regional hubs: Qaisumah, Dammam, Jeddah and Medina in Saudi, alongside Cairo in Egypt. The airline has carried more than 73,000 passengers during this period, serving 36 cities across 10 countries.
Elsewhere in the region, aviation activity is gradually normalising. Bahrain recently reopened its airspace on 8 April, marking a potential shift towards easing air travel disruptions.
