Services to Damascus are suspended until 18 March
Saudi Arabia’s low-cost carrier Flyadeal has revealed plans to resume flights to Dubai in the UAE, and Amman, Jordan, following a brief suspension prompted by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. However, services to Damascus, Syria, will remain on hold until 18 March.
In a statement posted on LinkedIn, Flyadeal CEO Steven Greenway confirmed: “We’ve just received permission to resume flights to Amman in Jordan and Dubai. Details will be announced within 24 hours." The airline is expected to share updated booking information and flight schedules shortly.
Greenway noted that more than 90% of Flyadeal’s network continues to operate normally, despite wider disruption across the region. According to aviation analytics firm Cirium, nearly 30,000 of 51,000 scheduled flights across the region were cancelled between 28 February and 6 March.

Flyadeal is the latest regional carrier to resume operations to Dubai, following Saudia’s reinstatement of services from Jeddah and Riyadh on 7 March. Meanwhile, fellow Saudi airline Flynas has extended its suspension of flights to several regional destinations, including Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Doha, Bahrain, Kuwait, Syria and Iraq, until 15 March.
Since 28 February, Saudi has played a key role as a transit corridor for air travel within the GCC during widespread airspace closures. Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport (RUH) in particular has served as a major hub for travellers stranded in neighbouring countries such as Bahrain and Qatar.
Repatriation flights operated by several regional carriers, including Kuwait Airways and Gulf Air, have also continued to use Saudi airspace.
