National carrier first in region to integrate feature
Saudi Arabia’s national carrier, Saudia Airlines, is introducing Google’s Find Hub Share Item Location feature to help passengers locate lost or delayed luggage. It is the first Middle Eastern airline to integrate Google’s latest system.
Travellers can equip their bags with compatible trackers or Bluetooth accessories and securely share their location with the airline via a temporary private link. Passengers are advised to ensure their devices and apps are updated.
The feature allows passengers to attach real-time location information to their baggage claim when reporting missing or delayed luggage. Sharing can be stopped at any time and automatically expires after seven days.

Rossen Dimitrov, Chief Guest Experience Officer at Saudia, said: “Our focus is on giving guests confidence and reassurance throughout their journey. Initiatives like this reflect our broader commitment to clarity, transparency and ensuring guests feel informed and in control at every stage of the experience.”
Other international carriers utilising this technology include Turkish Airlines, China Airlines, Air India and airlines within the Lufthansa Group.
Saudia had previously also adopted Apple AirTags to track luggage, making it one of the early carriers to leverage consumer technology for baggage recovery.
One of the airline’s major hubs, Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport, recently renovated Terminal 2, installing upgraded baggage systems to further enhance the security and safe handling of passenger luggage.
