Partnership enables single booking for multi-leg journeys
Passengers flying with Saudia can now book combined air and rail travel in a single transaction, following a new agreement with Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR).
Unveiled during the Umrah and Ziyarah Forum 2026 in Madinah, the partnership will integrate both companies’ digital systems, enabling travellers to issue boarding passes for flights and train journeys at the same time.
The initiative aims to streamline travel across Saudi, particularly for passengers travelling between key religious destinations such as Makkah and Madinah.
Essam Akhonbay, Vice President of Marketing at Saudia, said: “Our digital infrastructure is designed to support the continuous introduction of new services with high efficiency and reliability.”

Saudia adopts Google tech for smarter baggage tracking
The two entities first collaborated in 2023, offering special train fares for Saudia passengers travelling between Makkah and Madinah, as part of broader efforts to strengthen domestic connectivity across the kingdom.
The Haramain High-Speed Railway, which operates at speeds of up to 300 kilometres per hour, is among the fastest in the world. First introduced in 2018, the system links Makkah and Madinah via five stations, including Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport.
The move comes as Saudia continues to improve its digital capabilities. The airline recently rolled out a smart baggage tracking system, becoming one of the first carriers in the region to adopt Google’s Find Hub Share Item Location technology, enabling travellers to monitor luggage in real time. It had previously integrated a similar system featuring Apple AirTags.
