Service must be booked 72 hours prior to departure
Amid growing demand for pet relocation services, Emirates has launched a dedicated support team in the UAE to oversee outbound bookings involving animals, as the carrier resumes freight operations.
In an online statement, the airline said: “Our team will support you throughout the entire booking process, ensuring each request is handled with speed, clarity and care. Your pets are family, and their safe and timely travel remains our priority.”
The service operates through Emirates SkyCargo’s global network and offers all-inclusive airfreight rates. Emirates Skywards members can also use the Cash+Miles option to book pet travel with loyalty points.
Bookings for Emirates’ pet relocation service follow a four-step procedure, starting with a tentative reservation to secure a spot on the chosen flight.

The airline then provides an approximate quotation, after which customers submit the required documentation for approval. This includes destination-specific papers, such as an EU health certificate or UK annexe, which must be submitted at least 72 hours before the flight to obtain permission. Once approved, Emirates shares the final handover and payment details.
Customers are advised to check breed restrictions before booking, as certain pets are prohibited under the UAE and Emirates SkyCargo regulations or may require special approvals. Guidelines are available on the airline’s website.
Dedicated temperature-controlled facilities ensure animals are transported safely throughout the journey, in line with the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment’s requirements. Pets receive veterinary support at the airline’s Animal Care facility in Dubai, and transit care is handled by experienced staff in compliance with IATA’s Live Animal Regulations.
This latest initiative is part of Emirates’ wider efforts to support travellers amid ongoing travel disruptions in the Middle East, with the carrier recently introducing a flexible rebooking policy that allows passengers to change flights online within 72 hours of their original departure.
