Renovated heritage address includes a villa with sweeping views over Via Veneto
Nobu Hospitality has made its much-anticipated debut in Italy with the launch of Nobu Hotel and Restaurant Roma, a property that blends Japanese minimalism with the refined elegance of Italian design in the heart of Rome’s historic centre.
The grand opening was celebrated with a traditional sake ceremony, attended by co-founders Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, Meir Teper and actor Robert De Niro.
Located on Via Veneto, just a short stroll from landmarks such as Villa Borghese, the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain, the former Grand Hotel has been reimagined by the acclaimed Rockwell Group into a 117-room sanctuary.
Interiors pay tribute to Rome’s rich history with natural materials, clean lines and soft, ambient lighting. Rooms and suites offer city views, with options including the three-bedroom Nobu Villa, which comes with a penthouse balcony overlooking the famed boulevard.
At the heart of the property is Nobu Restaurant Roma, where Chef Matsuhisa’s Japanese and South American-inspired cuisine has been given an Italian twist and seasonal local produce. As well as the main dining area, guests can choose from an intimate sushi counter or linger at the bar with curated sake, cocktails and Italian wines. Around-the-clock in-room dining is also available.

Commenting on the launch, Trevor Horwell, CEO of Nobu Hospitality, said the property “beautifully embodies our brand’s philosophy of culinary excellence, design and heartfelt hospitality”.
Nobu Hotel & Restaurant Roma adds to the brand’s portfolio of more than 40 hotels worldwide, joining Nobu Hotel Riyadh as the current Middle East flagship, with further regional expansion set for the coming year. This includes Nobu Hotel Al Khobar in Saudi Arabia, a new property in Oman’s capital Muscat and a debut on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi
