Heritage villa reimagined as luxury Althoff Collection retreat
Frankfurt welcomes a new luxury hotel with the opening of The Florentin by Althoff Collection, bringing a stylish “urban retreat” to the city’s leafy Sachsenhausen district, just 10 kilometres from the airport and a short walk from the River Main and museum quarter.
To mark the launch, guests booking the ‘Meet The Florentin’ package between 1 December 2025 and 28 February 2026 will receive €100 (AED425) in hotel credit. Room rates start at around €420 (AED1,790) per night.
A member of The Leading Hotels of the World, The Florentin occupies the historic Villa Speyer, originally built in 1901. Formerly Villa Kennedy, the property has been completely transformed with expanded wings and a revitalised design that blends its heritage architecture – including the stone façade and distinctive tower – with natural materials such as wood, stone and stucco. The result is a calm, light-filled space of clean lines, muted tones and tactile textures.
The name ‘Florentin,’ derived from the Latin word for ’blooming’, reflects the lush Garden Courtyard at the heart of the hotel, where guests can enjoy al fresco breakfasts and relaxed gatherings amid greenery.
The hotel offers 147 accommodations across 17 categories, including nine signature suites. Ranging from Deluxe Rooms, some with private outdoor areas, to the expansive Royal Suite with three bedrooms, a separate living room and a fireplace, each space combines comfort with understated elegance.
The signature suites are individually designed to honour figures who have shaped Frankfurt’s history, featuring curated art, books and bespoke furnishings. Suite guests also enjoy access to a private wine lounge and social salons.

Three signature dining venues elevate the culinary offering. Destination serves fine dining under Executive Chef Niclas Nußbaumer, while the Garden Restaurant offers Mediterranean-inspired dishes beside the courtyard. The Florentin Bar presents artisanal coffees, light bites and handcrafted cocktails in a relaxed setting.
For wellness, The Florentin Spa features five treatment rooms offering scientifically based therapies, complemented by multiple saunas, a 14-metre indoor pool, a spa garden and a relaxation lounge. A TechnoGym-equipped fitness centre completes the facilities.
“The Florentin represents a new kind of urban hospitality: tranquil, stylish, and imbued with personal warmth. It’s a place that both inspires and slows you down,” said Boris Messmer, General Manager.
Frank Marrenbach, CEO of Althoff Hotels, added: “With The Florentin, we are redefining the concept of the urban retreat in a contemporary way: architecturally clear, culturally open, and characterised by warm hospitality.”
The Florentin joins a growing list of new openings in the city in 2025, including the boutique Kimpton Main Frankfurt, which earlier this year marked the brand’s German debut in the financial district.
