Derbas brings more than 30 years of regional experience
Saudi Arabian hospitality and real estate firm Taiba Investments has appointed Tareq Derbas as Vice President of Hospitality Operations.
With more than 30 years of regional experience, Derbas has held senior leadership roles across Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. His career includes tenures as General Manager with Marriott International, St Regis Hotels & Resorts and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. Most recently, he served as the Area General Manager for Faena in Saudi and as a Board Member of the Jordan Tourism Board.
Recognised for his expertise in portfolio optimisation, property repositioning and guest experience enhancement, Derbas will lead hospitality operations, performance and brand expansion at Taiba.
Commenting on his appointment, Derbas said: “I am honored to join TAIBA at this important stage of its journey, and I look forward to working with the team to enhance operational performance, strengthen our brands and deliver exceptional experiences for our guests.”

Established in 1976, Taiba Investments continues to play a key role in major hospitality developments across the kingdom. One of its key upcoming projects is the first-ever Waldorf Astoria hotel in Madinah, developed in partnership with Hilton.
The project will see the Taiba Front Hotel rebranded and renovated as Waldorf Astoria Al Madinah, a 300-key property scheduled to open in 2028. Located within minutes of the Prophet’s Mosque, the hotel will feature two multi-functional halls, a private club lounge, a fitness centre and three dining venues.
In addition to Hilton, Taiba manages more than 12 hotel brands in Saudi, partnering with international operators including IHG, Accor and Millennium Hotels, as well as local brands such as Makarem.
